Collaborate
Curiosity fuels my explorations of holistic wellness, and I’m keen to further evolve my perspectives and approaches. Thought partnerships are very welcomed! Here, I’ve summarized a few themes of particular interest.
Community
Some challenges we experience arise specifically in the context of groups, including in the LGBTQIA+ community. In what ways can embodied techniques heighten empathy and help move us from comparison/ conformity/competition to commonality/camaraderie/cohesion?
Addiction
Substances and behaviors that trigger releases of dopamine may numb difficult emotions or masquerade as connections we crave. Can the sense of grounding within the body from somatic approaches be leveraged to support recovery, sobriety and moderation strategies?
Stigma
Sexuality is often shrouded in shame, with homophobia and toxic masculinity intersecting in especially harmful ways. Can somatic-based methods help liberate us, so we might experience the joys of holistic wellness in balance—physical, emotional, sexual and spiritual?
Expanded Consciousness
Psychedelics (among other techniques) can reveal powerful insights typically beyond the cognitive, conscious mind. How might embodied senses like interoception and proprioception be safely incorporated? In what ways may touch be most useful before/after as part of preparation/integration?
Aging
Passing of time ushers perpetual, inevitable change, including in appearance and function of the physical self and identity. Are there embodied methods that could support not just an acceptance of aging, but celebrations of self-image and expressions that become richer over time?
Reach
The wellness industry favors methods that can be scaled to infinite numbers of people simultaneously—podcasts, social media posts, books, blogs, articles. Touch is a one-at-a-time endeavor. How can teaching the art of touch be innovated to ensure broader access to this most basic of human gifts?
